Specifications

Brand: Johnson's

Full description

Rabbits, guinea pigs and other small pets are surprisingly easy to nick or scrape — thin skin, busy claws, and enclosures full of things to catch a foot on — and most of those small wounds are over and forgotten before an owner's even worked out how it happened.

This is a dry dressing powder rather than a cream or spray, described by Johnson's as an antiseptic dry dressing for minor wounds and abrasions in small animals. It comes as a 20g pack.

Specifically for small animals

What it's not for. This is aimed at small, surface-level wounds — Johnson's give no guidance on wound size or depth, so anything deeper than a graze, or a wound that's bleeding more than briefly, needs a vet who treats small animals rather than a dusting of powder.

Who it's for: owners of rabbits, guinea pigs and similar small pets who want a basic antiseptic dressing on hand for the everyday nicks that come with an active enclosure.

Johnson's Small Animal Antibacterial Wound Powder

Why we chose it

It's made specifically for small animals rather than being a dog or cat product stretched to cover them, which matters because small pets' skin and wound care needs are genuinely different. A powder is also easier to apply to a wriggling small pet than a cream.
