Specifications

Brand: Johnson's

Full description

Small pets tend to get overlooked when it comes to first-aid basics, partly because most antiseptic creams on the shelf are labelled for dogs and cats without a word about whether they're fine for a rabbit or guinea pig instead.

This cream is specifically for small animals — rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and similar — and Johnson's describe it as a soothing antiseptic cream that promotes natural healing. It comes as a 50g tub.

For rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and similar small animals

What isn't stated. Johnson's don't publish a full ingredient list or a guide to wound size for this one, so it's for minor, everyday nicks and scrapes rather than anything more serious — a wound that's deep, won't stop bleeding, or a small pet that seems unwell needs a vet who treats exotics or small mammals specifically.

Who it's for: owners of rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and similar pets who want a small-animal-specific antiseptic cream rather than a dog or cat product used off-label.

Why we chose it

It's labelled specifically for small animals rather than being a dog product you're left guessing is safe. A 50g tub is also a sensible size for something you'll use in small amounts and not that often.
