A puppy takes somewhere between a few weeks and a good few months to become reliable, and disposable pads across that stretch add up to a surprising amount of bin bag and a surprising bill. A quilted washable pad does the same job on a loop instead: soak it, wash it, put the spare down, repeat. The arithmetic turns in your favour well before house-training is actually finished.

The construction is layered rather than a single absorbent sheet. The top face draws moisture down and away so the surface is not left wet for a puppy to stand in, the middle layer holds it, and the base is leak-resistant so the floor underneath stays dry. Two things worth knowing. Not every colourway is made in every size, so check the size you need exists in the pattern you like before you settle on it. And wash these separately from clothing and without fabric softener, because softener coats the fibres and is the usual reason a washable pad stops absorbing properly and gets blamed for being cheaply made.
