Pet coats and jumpers are sized mainly by back length, with chest girth as a second check. Back length matters most for coverage.
How to measure
- Back length: measure along the spine from the base of the neck (collar area) to the base of the tail.
- Chest: measure around the widest part of the ribcage, behind the front legs.
- If the two measurements suggest different sizes, choose by back length and allow for the chest.

Full description
Most Christmas dog jumpers get worn twice and then live in a drawer, because nobody wants to walk a dog dressed as a light-up reindeer in January. This is the plain one: solid red, no slogan, no antlers, nothing that jingles. It photographs well on Christmas morning and then carries on being an ordinary warm jumper for the rest of the winter.
The knit is acrylic, which is the sensible fibre for something an animal wears. It does not shrink or felt the way wool does, it survives a thirty-degree machine wash, it dries in hours rather than overnight, and it costs little enough that a jumper lost in a hedge is an annoyance rather than a disaster. Acrylic does not wick moisture, though, so a soaked jumper stays cold against the skin — take it off after a wet walk.
