The deep base is the feature to buy this for. The plastic tray is 14cm tall and runs almost the full 86cm length, which means bedding, hay and the general debris of a guinea pig's day stays inside the cage instead of on the floor around it. Shallow trays are the single most common reason a cage that looked fine in the photos becomes a daily sweeping job.

Above the tray it is wire on all sides for airflow and visibility, with a platform and ramp adding a second level to use. A hay feeder, water bottle and food dish are built in rather than taking up floor space, and there is a large top door (54.5 x 25cm) as well as a front one, so cleaning does not mean reaching the length of the cage through a small opening. Four wheels, all lockable, mean you can move it to clean behind and then lock it still.

On which animals this really suits. PawHut list chinchillas, and we would not. A chinchilla needs vertical space to jump, and at 43cm tall this cage does not offer it. PawHut also flag it is not for hamsters, which is right — the bar spacing is too generous. Where it works well is guinea pigs and rats, where floor area and a deep tray matter more than height. For rabbits, treat it as a base with daily run time rather than the whole of their space.
