Tubes and levels give a small rodent something to do, and boredom is the thing that makes a hamster chew bars at three in the morning. Two honest notes, because your hamster cannot read the box.

First, the wheel. The one included measures 13cm across, and that is too small for an adult hamster of any kind — running on a wheel that forces the spine into a curve causes real damage over time. UK vet guidance puts the minimum around 20cm for dwarf species and 28cm or more for Syrians. Use the supplied wheel for a young dwarf if you like, but plan on replacing it. It is a cheap fix and it matters.

Second, the species. PawHut are clear that this is not for Syrian hamsters, and they are right — it is sized for dwarf hamsters, gerbils and similar small rodents. The 13cm base also limits how deep you can bed it, and burrowing species want depth, so top it up generously.
