Specifications

Material: 100% natural
Brand: Komodo

Full description

A reptile that's struggling to shed usually needs more humidity than the room itself provides, and a hide with nothing but dry substrate in it doesn't hold moisture for long.

Komodo's Habitat Moss is 100% natural, locally sourced sphagnum moss, sold ready hydrated. It's placed inside caves or shedding stumps to provide humidity, and Komodo say it can also encourage egg-laying if placed in a hide. It's a 1.5 litre pack.

1.5 litre pack
100% natural sphagnum moss
Sold ready hydrated
Placed in caves, shedding stumps or hides for humidity
Described as encouraging shedding and, in a hide, egg-laying

What Komodo haven't told us. Komodo don't give us a humidity percentage or a re-hydration schedule on this card, so check the moss regularly and top up water as needed rather than assuming it stays effective indefinitely once placed.

Who it's for: reptile keepers wanting a natural humidity boost for shedding, or setting up a hide intended for nesting or egg-laying.

Why we chose it

Coming ready hydrated means it's usable straight from the pack rather than needing to be soaked first, which is the practical reason it's stocked over a dry moss that needs preparing. It's also genuinely natural sphagnum rather than a synthetic substitute.
