Disposing of cat litter is a genuine environmental question for anyone paying attention to it, and a clay-based litter that never breaks down is a different proposition entirely to one made from wood that can go in organic waste. Kittyfriend Wood is built around that difference from the ground up.

It is made from 100% natural, biodegradable, FSC-certified wood pellets rather than mined clay. Sanicat's own care guidance is to fill the tray with a 2cm layer, remove solid waste regularly, and wash the tray with warm water and soap before refilling with a fresh 2cm layer - and, as with any cat litter, to wash your hands after use, keep it away from children, and never flush it.

• 100% natural, biodegradable wood pellets
• FSC-certified sourcing
• Fill depth: 2cm layer, topped up as needed
• Non-clumping
• 30 litre bag

On the routine. Being wood-based and non-clumping means the cleaning routine differs from a clumping clay litter - Sanicat's guidance is to remove solid waste regularly and refresh the whole 2cm layer at each full clean, rather than scooping clumps daily, which some owners find is actually less frequent maintenance overall.

Who it's for: owners who want a litter that biodegrades rather than a mined mineral, and are happy to follow a fill-and-refresh routine rather than daily clump scooping.
