Johnston Jeff Low Sunflower for African Greys

A parrot with too much sunflower in its diet is a familiar problem in the trade, which is presumably why a blend built around a low sunflower content — 5% here, against seed mixes that can run much higher — earns its own name rather than being sold as a standard mix.

Johnston & Jeff's blend runs to 5% white sunflower, alongside safflower, oats, red and white dari, hemp, buckwheat, wheat, paddy rice, pumpkin seed, flaked and puffed maize, puffed wheat, dried fruit including papaya, banana, pineapple and apricot, and nuts including coconut, brazil nut kernels, walnut halves and peanuts. Johnston & Jeff describe it as a 24-ingredient blend for smaller-beaked parrots generally, rather than pitching it exclusively at African Greys.
