A pure seed diet leaves gaps a treat mix like this is built to fill, mixing in the fruit, nut and vegetable pieces a bird would encounter foraging naturally rather than relying on seed alone for variety.

Johnston & Jeff's mix combines banana chips, diced pineapple, chopped apricots, currants, raisins, pumpkin seed, coconut flakes, brazil nuts, walnut halves, peanut kernels, cranberries, dates, rosehips, rowan berries, carrot rings, peas, swede and potato.

• 700g or 5kg bag
• Combines dried fruit, nuts, seeds and dried vegetable pieces
• Contains peanuts, brazil nuts and walnuts
• For parakeets, cockatiels and parrots

What the label does not say. No protein, fat or fibre analysis has been supplied for this mix, so we cannot state its nutritional breakdown beyond the ingredient list. It is a treat and variety mix, not formulated as a complete diet, and the nut content means it should be kept away from any household member with a nut allergy.

Who it's for: owners of a parakeet, cockatiel or parrot wanting a varied treat mix to add interest to a seed-based diet, in a bulk 5kg size.
