A budgie mix built around one dominant seed type behaves differently to a scattergun blend of a dozen ingredients — fewer things for a fussy bird to sort through, and a clearer idea of what's actually in the bowl once the husks are gone.

Johnston & Jeff build this around canary seed at 50% of the mix, blended with soft white millet and small, easily digestible panicum millet, plus red millet and vegetable oil. The maker describes canary seed as carrying higher protein than most millets, with the softer millets added for easy digestion alongside it.

• 50% canary seed, blended with white millet, panicum millet and red millet
• Vegetable oil added
• Described as a balance of higher-protein canary seed with easily digestible millets
• 20KG sack

One thing worth knowing. No protein percentage is published for this specific mix — the "higher protein" description refers to canary seed generally rather than an analysed figure for this bag. If you want a number to compare it against a rival mix, this card doesn't have one.

Who it's for: budgerigar owners who want a canary-seed-forward mix rather than a wide multi-seed blend, and who are feeding budgies specifically rather than a mixed aviary of species.
