Give a bird a bowl of mixed seed and it will eat the parts it likes first, which is the real argument against a seed mix that leans too hard on one or two seeds — the rest just gets shelled out onto the cage floor and thrown away.

This blend runs to eleven separate ingredients: white and red millet seed, two types of sunflower seed, canary seed, safflower, hemp seed, groats, buckwheat, oats, paddy rice and vegetable oil. It's formulated specifically for cockatiels and parakeets, and it's not grain-free — buckwheat, oats and paddy rice are all genuine grains in the mix.

• 11-ingredient seed blend
• Two sunflower seed types included
• Contains grain (buckwheat, oats, paddy rice) — not grain-free
• Formulated for cockatiels and parakeets specifically
• 3KG pack

On the numbers. No protein, fat or fibre percentage is published for this mix, so there's nothing here to set against a bagged pellet diet's guaranteed analysis. Judge it on the ingredient variety instead, because there isn't a figure to compare on this one.

Who it's for: cockatiel and parakeet owners who prefer feeding seed over pellets and want a genuinely varied blend, rather than one dominated by a single cheap filler seed.
