Specifications

Brand: Johnson's

Full description

Small animals are considerably less tolerant of a bath than a dog generally is, so anything that goes near their skin needs to earn its place rather than just being 'a shampoo that happens to be labelled small animal'.

This is Johnson's Small Animal Shampoo, a 125ml bottle formulated to be mild and non-irritant for rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets and similar pets. Johnson's describe it as gently cleaning and deodorising rather than treating any specific skin condition.

125ml bottle
Formulated as mild and non-irritant
For rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets and similar small animals
Gently cleans and deodorises

One thing worth knowing. This is a general cleansing shampoo rather than a medicated one, so Johnson's give no guidance on treating fleas, mites or skin conditions with it - if your animal has a specific skin problem, that's a vet visit rather than a bath.

Who it's for: owners of rabbits, guinea pigs or ferrets who want a gentle, general-purpose shampoo for routine cleaning rather than a medicated treatment.

Johnson's Small Animal Shampoo

Why we chose it

Small animal skin is genuinely more sensitive than a dog's, so a shampoo specifically formulated as non-irritant for rabbits and ferrets is worth having rather than reaching for whatever's already in the bathroom. A 125ml bottle is also a sensible size for something used occasionally rather than weekly.
