Specifications

Brand: Johnson's

Full description

Small cage birds like budgies need grit and minerals for reasons that have nothing to do with flavour or appetite — grit helps with digestion itself, and the added minerals cover gaps a seed-only diet tends to leave.

This is a small-bird pek containing iodine, grits, seaweed extract, calcium and yeast, described by Johnson's as enriched with vitamins and minerals. It is sold individually: the price shown is for one pek.

Sold individually: one pek per item (small-bird size)
Contains iodine, grits, seaweed extract, calcium and yeast
Enriched with vitamins and minerals
Sized for small birds

What it doesn't replace. This is a mineral and grit supplement, not a complete diet — Johnson's don't suggest it replaces a proper seed or pellet mix, so it's an addition to feeding rather than a substitute for it.

Who it's for: keepers of budgies and similar small cage birds wanting a grit and mineral supplement sized specifically for smaller birds rather than a large-bird version.

Why we chose it

It's sized specifically for small birds rather than a one-size grit product, which matters because a large-bird pack isn't automatically right for a budgie. Iodine, seaweed extract, calcium and yeast together cover more ground than a plain grit mix.
