A hutch that gets cleaned out but never actually disinfected can look tidy while still carrying bacteria in the corners and joints — the two jobs aren't the same, and small animals kept in an enclosed space are more exposed to whatever's left behind than most pets.

This 500ml trigger spray kills bacteria and viruses, and Johnson's list it for cleaning and disinfecting hutches, cages, bedding, feeding bowls and drinkers, plus floors, carpets and other surfaces nearby. It leaves a pleasant fresh fragrance, and it's for small animals.

On rinsing before use. Johnson's give no specific rinse instruction here, and this is fragranced — worth rinsing feeding bowls and drinkers thoroughly before putting them back, and letting the hutch or cage dry out fully before the animal goes back in.

Who it's for: owners of rabbits, guinea pigs and similar small pets wanting one disinfectant for the hutch, feeding equipment and surrounding area.
