Specifications

Brand: Johnson'S

Full description

Red mite live in the cracks of a coop or cage rather than on the bird itself for most of the day, which is why treating the bird alone often isn't enough on its own.

Johnson's Anti Mite Extra is a water-based pump spray containing permethrin, for direct use on cage birds and pigeons, aimed at red mite, northern mite, lice and other common external parasites. It comes in a 150ml bottle.

Water-based formula
Contains permethrin
For direct use on cage birds and pigeons
Targets red mite, northern mite and lice

On the cage or coop itself. Johnson's describe this as for direct use on the bird — there's no guidance here on treating the cage, coop or surrounding cracks where mites actually live most of the time, so check whether you need a separate environmental treatment too.

Who it's for: keepers of cage birds or pigeons dealing with mites or lice, wanting a direct spray for the bird itself.

Johnson's Anti Mite Extra

Why we chose it

Permethrin is a proven active ingredient for this kind of parasite, not a vague herbal alternative, which matters when mites are already established. Being water-based and a pump spray makes it straightforward to apply directly and evenly.
