A cat that grooms itself constantly is doing exactly what it is built to do, and hairballs are the unglamorous side effect of that — the more fibre passes through undigested hair, the less of it comes back up. James Wellbeloved build this recipe around that specific problem rather than around flavour first.

The recipe is a single source of animal protein — dried turkey (29%) — with white and brown rice for carbohydrate, and pea fibre at 6% doing the hairball work. It excludes beef, pork, soya, eggs, dairy and wheat outright, which is the same hypoallergenic approach the brand uses across its range.

• Single animal protein: dried turkey (29%)
• Protein 32.5%, fat 18%, crude ash 9.7%, crude fibre 5%
• Omega-3 0.90%, omega-6 4.1%, energy 383 kcal/100g
• Pea fibre (6%) included specifically to reduce hairballs
• Excludes beef, pork, soya, eggs, dairy and wheat
• 1.5KG bag

One thing worth knowing. A hairball-control food manages the symptom, not the cause — a cat that is grooming excessively because of stress, skin irritation or fleas needs that looked at rather than just a different bag of food. James Wellbeloved don't publish a specific feeding table on this card, so use the guide on the bag for your cat's weight.

Who it's for: owners of an adult cat that regularly brings up hairballs, and anyone already managing a food sensitivity who wants that single-protein, allergen-excluded approach alongside it.
