A whole coconut is one of the few garden bird treats that doesn't need decanting into a feeder or spreading onto anything — it just needs hanging up, which is most of the appeal.

This is a box of 8 half coconuts, described as unwrapped and ready to use. The composition is cereals, oils and fats, minerals and seeds, with a stated gross energy of 540 kcal per 100g, sold to support overall health and wellbeing for garden birds.

• 8 unwrapped, ready-to-use half coconuts per box
• Composition: cereals, oils and fats, minerals, seeds
• Gross energy 540 kcal per 100g
• No preparation needed before hanging

what the makers haven't told us. There's no breakdown of the individual cereal, oil or seed ingredients beyond the broad composition categories, and no protein or fat percentage — only the overall energy figure. Judge it as a high-energy treat rather than a nutritionally detailed one.

Who it's for: anyone wanting a simple, no-preparation garden bird treat to hang straight from the box, rather than a suet or seed product that needs a feeder to go with it.
