Hens spend a lot of their natural day pecking and foraging, and a coop with nothing to work at is a coop where that instinct has nowhere to go — a stick-format treat that has to be pecked at, rather than simply eaten, gives it somewhere.

These are made from wheat flour, vegetable fat, mixed seeds, calcium powder, peanut butter, seaweed, parsley, oregano, spearmint, spirulina powder and garlic powder, designed to slot into a Chick Stick Feeder. Hentastic say they're made in the UK, and they're sold as a complementary treat, six to a pack.

• 6 sticks per pack
• Composition: wheat flour, vegetable fat, mixed seeds, calcium powder, peanut butter, seaweed, herbs (parsley, oregano, spearmint), spirulina and garlic powder
• Designed to fit a Chick Stick Feeder
• Made in the UK
• Complementary treat, not a complete diet

What the label does not say. Hentastic describe these as high in protein, but no percentage is given on our card, and there's no individual stick weight either — you're buying six sticks by the pack rather than by a stated weight.

Who it's for: keepers wanting a pecking-format treat that gives hens something to work at, rather than a treat that's simply dropped in a bowl.
