On sizing, which is the one thing not published here
This listing is the XXS, and nothing supplied to us gives a neck or chest measurement against that label — no girth range, no weight guide, no breed examples. Four adjustment points widen the window but they do not tell you where the window begins, so take a tape measure to the widest part of your puppy's chest and check that against Halti's own size chart before ordering. A harness a puppy can reverse out of on a pavement is worse than no harness at all.
Why we chose it
Four points of adjustment is the difference between buying one harness and buying three, and on an animal that changes shape weekly that is the entire argument. Halti have been doing this since 1979, which counts for something in a category full of names that appeared last year. Measure the puppy before you order, because the size label on its own will not tell you enough.

Size guide & how to measure
Harnesses are sized by the chest (girth) — the measurement around the widest part of the ribcage, just behind the front legs.
How to measure
- Stand your pet up squarely.
- Wrap a soft tape around the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs.
- Keep two fingers under the tape so the fit is snug, not tight.
- If your pet is between sizes, choose the larger one.
| Size | Typical chest / girth | Rough guide |
|---|---|---|
| XS | 28–40 cm | Toy breeds, kittens, very small dogs |
| S | 38–53 cm | Small dogs (e.g. Dachshund, Yorkie) |
| M | 50–68 cm | Medium dogs (e.g. Cocker Spaniel, Beagle) |
| L | 65–85 cm | Large dogs (e.g. Labrador, Boxer) |
| XL | 82–105 cm | Giant breeds (e.g. German Shepherd, Rottweiler) |
Ranges are approximate and vary by style. Always check this product’s Specifications for its exact measurements.

Full description
A puppy outgrows equipment long before it wears any of it out. Almost nothing bought in the first few months is still being used at the end of the year, and none of it fails — it just stops fitting, one buckle hole at a time. That makes adjustment range, rather than material or fastening, the specification that decides whether a puppy harness is good value or an expensive month.
Halti's answer is four separate points of adjustment, so the same harness carries on fitting as the puppy changes shape. It is a step-in design, which means it goes on from underneath rather than over the head, and the lead clips to the back. The shape is built around a puppy's anatomy to leave the shoulders free to move, with a scalloped chest pad for a more contoured fit and neoprene padding against the dog. Construction is deliberately lightweight and non-bulky, and there is 360-degree reflectivity for walks in poor light. Halti have been making walking gear since 1979 and put this forward for smaller adult dogs as well as puppies.

Who it's for: a puppy's first harness, particularly one that has already decided it dislikes things going over its head, and owners of a genuinely small adult dog looking for something light rather than padded like body armour.

Common questions
How does it go on?
It is a step-in design, so the puppy steps into it and it fastens from underneath rather than being pulled over the head.
Where does the lead clip on?
There is a back attachment point, which Halti describe as easy to clip on to.
What size is this one, and what will it fit?
This is the XXS. No neck or chest measurements have been published against that label anywhere in what we have been given, so measure the widest part of your dog's chest and compare it against Halti's own size chart before ordering.
Is it suitable for a small adult dog rather than a puppy?
Halti put it forward for both — they describe it as an introduction to harnesses for a puppy and a good choice for smaller adult dogs.
Is it any use in the dark?
It carries 360-degree reflectivity, so it picks up light from any angle rather than only from behind.
