A lead that only does one job is one more thing to carry when you need it to do two — tie a dog up somewhere while you're busy, or free up your hands for a run — and most leads simply weren't built for either.

The Halti All-In-One Lead is designed to double as a tie-out tether, or worn extended as a belt for hands-free control while running. At its base is what Company of Animals describe as a super-strong elastic shock absorber, meant to soften sudden jolts for both dog and owner. It's 2.1m long and about 15mm wide, finished with a two-tone webbing, 3M reflective weave and soft neoprene padding.

• 2.1m long, 15mm wide webbing
• Doubles as a tie-out tether or a hands-free belt
• Elastic shock absorber at the base
• 3M reflective weave
• Soft neoprene padding
• Available in four colours, including black and red

What's not on the card. Company of Animals haven't given us a maximum dog weight for this lead, so it's harder to judge how much shock the elastic base is actually built to absorb — if you have a large, strong-pulling dog, it's worth checking their sizing guidance directly rather than assuming it's rated the same as a lighter lead.

Who it's for: owners who want one lead to cover tie-out use and hands-free running rather than buying two separate products, and anyone who values the extra visibility of reflective weave on evening walks.
