The rolled collar is the part that does the work here. A dog's throat and the front of the chest are where warmth escapes fastest, and a jumper that stops at the shoulders leaves both of them out in the cold. This one carries the knit up into a turtleneck that sits around the neck, which is the difference between a jumper that looks warm and one that actually is.

The body is acrylic with a printed red reindeer design rather than a knitted-in jacquard. Printing gives a crisper, more detailed image and, more usefully, leaves nothing raised for a bored dog to pull at: no appliqué, no stitched-on nose, no dangling bell. Acrylic takes a cool machine wash without felting and dries within a few hours, so it can be worn, washed and worn again inside the same week.
