A wild bird wears its beak down against bark, grit and the bones of things it has eaten; a bird in a cage has none of that, which is the whole reason cuttlefish bone exists as a cage accessory rather than a curiosity.

This is Classic Pet Products' cuttlefish bone, supplied as a bulk pack rather than single pieces. It gives a bird calcium and other trace minerals to gnaw at, and the gnawing itself does two jobs at once: it keeps the beak worn to a manageable length and gives a bird with an empty day something to do.
