CJ's Kitten Wood Litter

A kitten will taste its litter. Not as a habit, and usually only once, but a kitten works out what everything is with its mouth first and its paws second, which is the entire reason people are told to avoid clumping litter until a cat has grown out of that stage.

CJ's answer is a wood pellet litter milled deliberately small. Their argument is that a standard pellet is simply too big for a kitten to move around with little paws, so the tray never gets used properly and litter training takes longer than it should. The label argues with itself, and you should see it. CJ's whole case for a kitten-specific litter is that kittens should not have clumping, fragranced or dusty litter. Two lines further down the same list of selling points says the smaller particles release a stronger pine fragrance. Both can be true at once - the smell is the wood, and they state there are no additives - but if your kitten has already backed away from a scented tray, that is the sentence to read twice. There is also nothing published about when to move a kitten onto the adult version, which is a question every buyer of this bag will eventually have.

Who it's for: anyone in the first months with a kitten who wants to get litter training right the first time, and owners who have watched a kitten stand on standard pellets and give up on digging.
