Not every cat responds to catnip. Roughly a third of them have no reaction to it whatsoever, which is a slightly deflating thing to discover after buying a drawer full of catnip mice. Silvervine, also sold as matatabi, works on a good share of those non-responders, so a toy carrying both gives you two chances at a reaction instead of one. For a few pounds, that is a reasonable bet to place.

Two things worth knowing. A textured chew is not a substitute for brushing your cat's teeth or for a dental check at the vet, and anyone selling it as one is overstating what a stick can do. Silvervine also fades as the sticks dry out, so keep the pack sealed between sessions and expect the strongest response in the first few weeks rather than months later.
