Owners rarely think about a dog's heart until a vet raises it at a check-up, by which point the food on the shelf has usually had years to matter one way or the other. Butcher's built this range around getting ahead of that rather than reacting to it.

Healthy Heart comes in two recipes — Salmon & Beef and Trout & Beef — both built on a 70% British and Irish farmed chicken and beef base (chicken 39%, beef 5%) with the named fish added at 26%, plus small amounts of vegetables. Butcher's add a "Healthy Heart Blend" at 2800mg/kg, though the card we hold doesn't break down what's inside that blend beyond the total figure. The analysis is protein 8%, fat 5%, fibre 0.2%, ash 2.5% and moisture 82%, at 84kcal per 100g, with omega-3 at 0.17% and omega-6 at 0.7%.

What "Healthy Heart" doesn't spell out. Butcher's describe the recipes as vet recommended and formulated by their nutritionist, but the card doesn't tell us what's actually in the 2800mg/kg blend beyond its total weight, or name a specific ingredient it's meant to support beyond the general heart-health framing on the pack. It's a complete everyday food rather than a veterinary or prescription diet, and it isn't a substitute for a vet's advice if a heart condition has actually been diagnosed.

Who it's for: owners wanting an everyday complete food with a heart-health angle built in, rather than anyone managing a diagnosed cardiac condition, which needs a vet's specific dietary guidance.
