Specifications

Brand: Bucktons

Full description

Most seed mixes are exactly what they say on the front, a bag of seed, and it takes something added deliberately — rather than just more seed varieties — to move a mix beyond that.

Bucktons Pouch Budgie is a 500G blend of yellow millet, black millet, canary seed, naked oats, carrot granules and vegetable oil, with a small pellet (6% of the mix) made from wheat flour, a vitamins and minerals premix, and Spirulina at 0.012%. Bucktons' own reasoning is that the added Spirulina pellet is intended to enhance plumage and support healthy immune and digestive function, alongside the calcium and vitamins it's fortified with.

500G bag
Yellow millet, black millet, canary seed, naked oats, carrot granules, vegetable oil
6% pellet containing wheat flour, vitamins and minerals, and Spirulina (0.012%)
Enriched with calcium and vitamins

The bit worth flagging. This mix contains naked oats and wheat flour in the pellet, so it isn't grain free, and no protein or fibre percentage is given for the seed portion itself — the pellet's contribution is the one part of the recipe that's broken down for you.

Who it's for: budgie owners who want a standard seed base with something extra added, rather than plain seed alone.

Bucktons Pouch Budgie

Why we chose it

The added Spirulina pellet is the actual point of difference here over a plain seed mix, and it's specific enough — a stated 0.012% — that it reads as a real ingredient rather than a marketing name on the bag. It's also a straightforward 500G size for a single budgie's seed dish.
