Specifications

Brand: Bucktons

Full description

A parrot mix stacked with sunflower seed is an easy mix for a bird to fill up on and get bored of quickly, since sunflower is the seed most parrots will eat first and everything else second. Bucktons build their Elite Parrot mix the other way around, deliberately keeping sunflower content low and adding a wider variety of other ingredients to encourage a parrot to work through the bowl rather than pick out one favourite.

Beyond that low-sunflower, high-variety approach, no individual ingredient list or nutritional analysis is published for this specific pack — it is sold on the mix philosophy rather than a detailed breakdown.

Low sunflower seed content, by design
Wider variety of other ingredients for feeding interest
Marketed to encourage foraging behaviour across the mix
3kg pack

On the detail we don't have. No individual ingredient list and no protein, fat or fibre percentage is published for this mix — the "low sunflower, added variety" description is the main fact we have, without a way to verify the exact proportions against a label.

Who it's for: parrot owners whose bird has been filling up on sunflower seed and leaving the rest of a standard mix, who want a formulation deliberately built to spread the interest around.

Common questions

Why is low sunflower content a selling point?

Sunflower seed is usually what a parrot eats first and leaves everything else, so a mix with less of it encourages the bird to eat a wider variety.

Is an ingredient list given?

Not an individually itemised one, and no protein or fat percentage is published for this pack.

How big is the bag?

3kg.

Is this suitable for all parrot species?

Bucktons market it as suitable for a wide variety of parrots without naming specific species.

How long does delivery take?

Your estimated delivery date is shown above and updates automatically. UK orders are sent tracked — standard delivery is £2.99, and free on orders over £39.

How do I track my order?

As soon as your order is dispatched we email you a tracking link, so you can follow it all the way to your door.

What if I need to return my order?

You have 14 days from delivery to change your mind (food, treats and frozen items have a shorter window). Just email us with your order number and we’ll send the return steps the same working day — see our delivery & returns page for details.

Bucktons Elite Parrot Food

Why we chose it

A low-sunflower mix is worth trying specifically if your parrot already picks the sunflower out and leaves everything else — that habit does not fix itself with more of the same mix. It's a straightforward, no-frills bag rather than a premium formulated pellet, which suits a bird that does fine on seed.
