Canaries kept on seed alone tend to pick out the pieces they like and leave the rest, which is one of the reasons a mix's balance only matters if the bird is actually eating across all of it rather than sorting through the dish. Bestpets' canary mix combines five named ingredients rather than a vague blend, which at least tells you what should be going in if the bird cooperates.

The composition is canary seed, black rapeseed, linseed, hempseed and yellow biscuit. It is a complementary feed rather than a complete diet, and Best Pets note it may contain nuts. Their feeding and care guidance covers the basics of good aviary hygiene: fresh food available daily, water changed at least twice a day, and food or water never placed directly under a perch where droppings can contaminate it.

On what's missing. No protein, fat or fibre analysis is given for this specific mix, so if you need exact figures to balance a canary's overall diet against other foods, this card cannot supply them - only the ingredient list itself.

Who it's for: canary keepers who want a named-ingredient mix rather than an unlabelled generic blend, bought in bulk rather than small pet-shop bags.
