Specifications

Brand: Beaphar

Full description

External parasites on a cage bird are easy to miss until a bird's condition visibly suffers, which is why a targeted insecticidal spray matters more in aviaries than it might for a dog or cat. Beaphar's Insecticidal Spray for Birds is built specifically for that job.

It contains permethrin, sprayed against the natural lay of the feathers, starting at the rear and working towards the head, avoiding the head and non-feathered areas directly. Dosing is by size: 1-2 pumps for small birds, 3-5 pumps for larger birds.

One thing worth knowing. Beaphar are specific that this shouldn't be used on birds with hatched young, chicks under three months old, or birds with serious skin disorders — check your bird and its circumstances against that list before using it.

Who it's for: aviary and cage bird keepers dealing with external parasites, whose birds don't fall into the excluded categories on the label.

Beaphar Insecticidal Spray for Birds

Why we chose it

A permethrin-based spray built specifically for birds is worth having over a general-purpose insecticide. Birds can be genuinely sensitive to the wrong formulation entirely.
