Specifications

Brand: Beaphar

Full description

A ferret grooms and moults enough hair that a hairball problem is a genuine risk, which is exactly the kind of thing a malt-based paste is designed to help move through the gut rather than sit in it.

This is a dual-action paste for ferrets from 7 weeks old, combining malt extract powder (3.8%) to encapsulate ingested hair and help hairballs pass smoothly, with taurine (4400mg) to support eye and heart function and mannan-oligosaccharide (MOS, 0.47%) as a prebiotic for digestion.

Malt extract powder 3.8%
Taurine 4400mg
MOS (prebiotic) 0.47%
For ferrets from 7 weeks old
Particularly useful during moulting

One thing worth knowing. This is a supplement and treat paste, not a substitute for a proper ferret diet — Beaphar describe it as dual-action for hairballs and general nutrition, not as a treatment for an existing digestive blockage, which needs a vet.

Who it's for: ferret owners wanting a palatable way to support their pet through moulting season, when hairball risk is highest.

Beaphar Ferret Malt Paste

Why we chose it

Taurine and a genuine malt-based hairball ingredient in one paste covers two real ferret-keeping concerns rather than just being a flavoured treat. Ferrets take to it readily, which matters for anything meant to be given regularly rather than as an occasional extra.
