What the name does not tell you
Despite being sold as egg food, actual egg content is 0.44% of the composition — bakery products, cereals and seeds account for far more of what is in the tub. Beaphar's own feeding guide varies by season: a quarter of the daily ration normally, two to three times a day in the breeding season, daily through the moult, and twice a week the rest of the year, which is worth reading properly rather than guessing at.
Why we chose it
The feeding table is what sold us on this one — a single tub that scales from twice a week to three times a day depending on the season covers most of a breeding year without buying three different products. It is a supplement rather than a full diet, so it sits alongside a seed mix rather than replacing one.

Full description
A parakeet raising chicks does not eat more because the label tells it to — it eats more because breeding is the most physically demanding thing it will do all year, which is presumably why Beaphar pitch this one hardest at exactly that season.
This is an egg food, in the sense that owners call this whole category egg food, but on the composition list actual eggs and egg derivatives make up 0.44% of it — the bulk is bakery products, cereals, seeds, oils and fats, with vegetable protein extracts and yeasts providing more of the nutrition than the name suggests. It is a complementary food rather than a complete one, so it goes into the routine feeding rather than replacing it. Protein sits at 15.7%, fat at 11.1%, and it comes in a 1KG tub.

Who it's for: owners of parakeets and parrots, especially anyone breeding or moulting them, who want the seasonal supplement Beaphar's own feeding table is built around rather than a complete diet on its own.
