Pregnancy, nursing and growth all pull extra calcium out of an animal's diet at the same time as bone itself is being built or drained, and a plain complete food is not always formulated to cover that extra demand — which is the gap a targeted calcium supplement is meant to fill.

AniForte's Ground Beef Bones is processed animal protein, finely ground from fresh beef bones, with 14% calcium. It carries 51.2% crude protein, 7.1% crude fat and 35.0% crude ash — that high ash figure being what you'd expect from a bone-based product. AniForte say it is developed with input from their in-house vets, veterinary practitioners and biologists in Germany.

• 500g pack, ground beef bone powder
• 14% calcium content
• Crude protein 51.2%, crude fat 7.1%, crude ash 35.0%
• AniForte's guidance: dogs up to 5kg get 3g daily, cats up to 2kg get 0.5g daily
• One measuring spoon holds approximately 2g
• Mixed into the daily food rather than fed alone

One thing worth knowing. This is a supplement aimed at animals with a raised calcium need — pregnancy, nursing, or growing puppies — not a general everyday top-up for every dog or cat, and AniForte give no guidance beyond the smallest weight bands shown here for larger animals. If you're unsure whether your dog or cat needs added calcium, that's worth checking with a vet before adding any supplement.

Who it's for: owners of a pregnant or nursing dog or cat, or a growing puppy, whose vet or breeder has flagged a need for extra calcium, or anyone whose pet cannot tolerate raw bones in the diet.
