A garden without a fence, or a campsite with none at all, still leaves a dog needing somewhere to be that isn't the end of your arm. A ground stake gives them a fixed point to be tethered to instead.
Ancol's Tie-Out Stake is a spiral metal stake that screws into the ground, designed to take a tie-out cable or chain. The spiral shape is specifically to stop the tether wrapping round the stake and tangling, which a straight peg doesn't prevent.
