A dog that's arrived without a collar, or slipped out of one, still needs controlling right now rather than once you've found the right size buckle collar. A slip lead is built for exactly that moment - it goes over the head and works as both lead and collar in one.

Ancol's Slip Lead is a lightweight nylon diamond weave with leather finishing at the joints, and a keeper to hold the loop at the size you've set it to rather than it sliding loose. It measures 150cm by 1.2cm and carries a maximum recommended weight of 50kg.

• Measures 150cm x 1.2cm
• Maximum recommended weight 50kg
• Nylon diamond-weave construction with leather joint finishing
• Keeper to secure the loop
• Can be used as a head collar
• Weatherproof and easy to clean

On how it's different to a normal lead. A slip lead tightens around the neck as the dog pulls, rather than staying a fixed loop like a collar and lead combination, so it isn't a like-for-like swap for everyday walking on a dog that already pulls hard - it's better suited to controlled handling than being clipped on and left to it.

Who it's for: anyone who needs to walk or move a dog without a collar already fitted - fosterers, rescues, vet visits, or a dog that's slipped its collar - and owners who want a head-collar option in reserve.
