Size guide & how to measure
Leads are chosen by length and width rather than your dog’s body size. Pick the width to suit your dog’s strength and the length to suit how you walk.
How to measure
- Width: lighter, narrower webbing for small dogs; wider, thicker webbing for strong pullers and larger dogs.
- Standard lead (1.2–1.5 m): everyday pavement walks and training.
- Long line (3–10 m): recall practice and open spaces.
- Short / traffic lead (under 1 m): close control in busy areas.
| Length | Best for |
|---|---|
| Under 1 m | Traffic / close control |
| 1.2–1.5 m | Everyday walks (most popular) |
| 1.8–2 m | Relaxed walks, more freedom |
| 3 m + | Recall training, open spaces |
Always check this product’s Specifications for its exact length and width.
Full description
A lead handle that digs into your palm on a long walk is a design failure no amount of pattern or colour choice fixes, which is why the padding at the grip end matters more than how the lead looks.
This lead has durable poly-weave webbing with cushioning neoprene padding at the handle and a satin snap hook, measuring 100cm x 1.2cm.

What the numbers do not agree on. the listing's size guide says this lead suits dogs up to 20kg, while their listing description elsewhere quotes a 30kg maximum. We cannot confirm which is correct, so for a dog near either figure, we would err towards the lower one.
Who it's for: owners of a smaller-to-medium dog wanting a comfortable, padded handle over a plain webbing one.

Why we chose it
The neoprene padding at the handle is a genuine comfort upgrade over a flat webbing lead, and it's the sort of detail you only notice on a long walk. It's part of the wider Viva range, so matching pieces exist if you want them.
