Full description

A grooming session that only removes hair and does nothing for the skin underneath is missing half the point, especially for a dog that's more interested in the fuss than the actual brushing.

This massage pad has soft rubber fingers that work loose hair away from the coat while massaging the skin, and it can be used on a dry coat or on a wet one to help work shampoo through during a bath.

Soft rubber fingers
Removes loose hair while massaging the skin
Works on wet or dry coats
Suitable for smooth, short, wiry and curly coats
Brush gently in the direction of fur growth when dry

What the label does not say. There's no coat-length restriction beyond "smooth, short, wiry and curly", so for a long-haired dog this is likely better as a finishing or bath tool than a primary brush.

Who it's for: owners who want a gentle, massage-style tool for a dog that enjoys the process, rather than a brush aimed purely at speed.

Ancol Ergo Massage Pad

Why we chose it

The massage element is the actual difference here. A dog that likes being stroked will often sit still for this pad far longer than for a plain brush, which gets more hair removed simply because the dog cooperates for longer.
