Full description

A rigid slicker brush works fine on a calm, cooperative cat and badly on almost every other kind, which is why the pins on this one are deliberately soft and bendy rather than stiff.

This slicker removes loose fur and leaves a glossier coat, with pins that glide through to lift hair from both the undercoat and top coat, and can gently detangle knots and matting in longer fur when used carefully.

Soft, bendy pins
Removes loose fur from undercoat and top coat
Gently detangles knots in longer fur
Use gently, particularly on young cats or short coats
Helps reduce shed fur around the home

On technique. Because the pins are thin, the makers specifically say to go gently, particularly with young cats or short-coated cats where firmer pressure isn't needed — this is a brush that rewards a light hand rather than a thorough scrub.

Who it's for: owners of a longer-coated cat needing gentle detangling, or a young or short-coated cat where a lighter touch is what's actually called for.

Why we chose it

Bendy pins are less likely to scratch or catch than a rigid slicker, which matters more with cats than dogs since cats tend to tolerate far less. It's the safer first slicker to try before anything stiffer.
