Full description

A cat that tenses up the moment a brush appears usually isn't reacting to grooming itself, it's reacting to a brush that's too firm for how gently cats actually need to be handled.

This brush uses incredibly soft bristles to smooth and neaten a cat's coat, gentle enough for cats nervous about being groomed, and it also works to finish a coat that's already been groomed with a moulting comb or slicker.

Incredibly soft bristles
Smooths and neatens the coat
Gentle enough for nervous cats
Useful for finishing after a moulting comb or slicker
Regular use can reduce shed fur around the home

One thing worth knowing. the makers don't give a bristle count or head size, so we can't tell you how it compares to a firmer brush beyond "soft" — for a heavily matted coat, this is a finishing tool rather than the one to reach for first.

Who it's for: owners of a nervous cat, or a cat that tolerates very little handling, wanting a gentle introduction to being brushed.

Ancol Ergo Cat Brush

Why we chose it

A cat that won't sit still for anything firmer will often tolerate this, which is the whole point of it. Getting a nervous cat to accept any brushing at all is worth more than a technically more effective tool it refuses to tolerate.
