FleaSolve is a spot-on flea treatment, applied to the skin rather than given as a tablet, and we stock it for both dogs and cats, including a version sized for very large dogs. It is one option among several spot-on treatments we carry, rather than a one-brand-fits-all answer.
How spot-on treatments like this work
A spot-on is applied to a small area of skin, usually between the shoulder blades where a pet cannot easily lick it off, and works its way across the skin's surface over the following days. Getting the size right for your pet's weight matters, which is why the range is split by size rather than sold as one product for every dog.
Always follow the instructions on the pack for how much to use and how often, and check the packaging carefully before use on a cat — some spot-on ingredients that are safe for dogs are genuinely dangerous for cats, so a cat-specific product should never be substituted with a dog one.
Using it responsibly
Treat all the pets in a household on a similar schedule where you can, since fleas move between animals sharing a home easily, and treating one pet while leaving another untreated often means the problem simply carries on. Keep treated pets apart from each other briefly after application until the product has dried onto the skin.
If your pet is scratching persistently, has broken skin, or a flea problem is not improving after treatment, that is worth a call to your vet rather than reaching for a second dose early or a different product on top. A vet can also advise on the right treatment for a pregnant, very young, elderly or unwell pet, where the usual product may not be appropriate.

- Can I use the dog version of FleaSolve on my cat?
- No. Always use the product made for your pet's species and follow the pack it comes with — some ingredients in dog spot-on treatments are genuinely dangerous for cats. Choose the cat-specific pack rather than a smaller dose of a dog product.
- How often should I apply a spot-on flea treatment?
- Follow the frequency printed on the pack rather than guessing, since this varies by product and by your pet's weight band. If fleas keep coming back between applications, speak to your vet about whether the schedule or product needs adjusting.
- Do I need to treat every pet in the house?
- It is worth doing where you have more than one cat or dog, since fleas move easily between pets sharing a home. Treating only one animal while another goes untreated often means the flea problem simply continues.
- What if the flea treatment doesn't seem to be working?
- Persistent fleas, scratching that isn't settling, or skin that looks sore or broken are worth raising with your vet rather than adding another treatment on top of what you have already used. They can check whether it is fleas, a reaction, or something else entirely.
- Do I need to treat my home as well as my pet?
- Often yes, since flea eggs and larvae can sit in carpets, bedding and soft furnishings well after an adult flea is dealt with on your pet. Regular vacuuming and washing pet bedding on a hot cycle alongside treating your pet helps break that cycle.
