The vegetable stick is the one to reach for when you want a Kräcker that is not built round fruit or honey. Beetroot is the named ingredient at 1.6%, and Vitakraft's full ingredient list for it also brings in dried potato, dried carrot, dried leek, pea flakes, lucerne and turmeric flour, which is a longer and more interesting list than anything else in the range.

It is also the most heavily fortified of the plain sticks. Vitamin A comes from two authorised sources at 149 IU and 8651 IU per kilo, and vitamin D3 is at 880 IU, both higher than the 6600 and 660 that the rest of the range runs. Calcium carbonate is declared at 1.3% in the ingredient list, so there is a deliberate mineral component here rather than an incidental one. "Vegetables and beetroot" is a flavour, not a vegetable portion. Beetroot is declared at 1.6% and the other vegetables are lower still. A rabbit gets nothing from this that a slice of actual carrot would not do better and cheaper. What it is genuinely good at is being hard, awkward and slow to eat, which is the real job. Vitakraft also publish no analytical constituents for this recipe, so the protein and fibre are not on record.

Who it's for: rabbit keepers who would rather their treat stick was savoury than sweet, and anyone who wants the most fortified of the plain Kräckers.
