A cat who clears a bowl of kibble in under a minute is not enjoying it, only getting through it. Putting the same food inside a drum that has to be batted before anything falls out changes the shape of the meal completely: a few pieces at a time, earned, with the paws and the ears doing the work they were built to do.

The drum is clear, so your cat can see what is inside and keep trying, and that matters more than it sounds, because a puzzle feeder that hides its contents often gets abandoned on the first day. Kibble tumbles out through holes in the drum as it turns. The base stays put on the floor while the drum spins, so it does not vanish under the sofa the way a rolling ball does.

• Clear rotating drum on a stable base
• Kibble tumbles out through holes in the drum
• Slows fast eaters at mealtimes
• Works with dry kibble or small treats
• Opens up for filling and cleaning
• Green, or yellow and purple

Dry food only, and read the variant. Wet food will not tumble and will foul the holes. The photographs show the drum, and we would rather flag that inconsistency now than let you find it in the parcel.

Who it's for: Indoor cats who gulp their food and need something to occupy them between naps, and small dogs who can be trusted with a cat-sized puzzle.
