Product description
Meadow hay and nothing else, dust-extracted. For a rabbit, guinea pig, chinchilla or degu this is not a treat or an accessory; it is most of the diet, and the single thing most responsible for keeping teeth worn down and a gut moving.
It is compressed into the bag and expands as you pull it out, so the pack is smaller than the pile it makes. The brand states it expands to around four times its packed size. Dust extraction matters more than it sounds: small herbivores live with their noses in their bedding, and dusty hay is a common cause of sneezing and respiratory trouble.
- 100% natural meadow hay, nothing added
- Dust-extracted, to reduce respiratory irritation
- High in fibre, for digestion and for dental wear
- Good for foraging and for lining a bed
- Suitable for rabbits, guinea pigs, degus, chinchillas and other small herbivores
Hay should be available all the time, not measured out. A rabbit wants a pile roughly its own body size every day and should never run out; treats and nuggets are the things you ration, and hay is not. If your pet is leaving the hay and eating everything else, the usual cause is too much of everything else rather than a problem with the hay.
Who it's for: anyone keeping rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas or degus, which is to say everyone keeping those animals. It is the default, not the extra.
Why we chose it
Hay is the one thing in a small herbivore's life that genuinely cannot be skipped, and dust extraction is the difference between a bag that is fine and a bag that makes a guinea pig sneeze for a fortnight. A plain, honest staple at a sensible price.

Common questions
What is in it?
100% natural meadow hay, dust-extracted. There is nothing else in the bag.
How much hay does a rabbit need?
Hay should be available at all times, not rationed. A common guide is a pile about the size of the rabbit itself each day.
What does dust-extracted mean?
The fine dust has been removed. Small herbivores keep their faces in their bedding, and dusty hay is a common cause of sneezing and respiratory irritation.
Which animals is it for?
Rabbits, guinea pigs, degus, chinchillas and other small herbivores.
Why does the bag look small?
The hay is compressed for packing and expands as you take it out. The brand states it expands to around four times its packed size.
Is meadow hay the same as timothy hay?
No. Meadow hay is a mix of grasses and is softer and more varied; timothy is a single grass with a coarser stem. Many owners offer both.
