Squirrels are not really the problem with a bird feeder; the problem is that a squirrel empties it in an afternoon and the small birds you put it up for never get near. This one deals with that mechanically rather than chemically or hopefully, which is the only approach that works.

The seed ports are on spring-loaded perches, and the weight of a squirrel — or of a larger bully bird — closes them. An anti-squirrel baffle sits above. The perches are shaped so that a bird feeds from the port in a comfortable position while still being able to see anything approaching, which matters more to a small bird than the food does. It measures 45cm high by 18cm wide and 18cm deep, holds approximately 1.6kg of wild bird seed or 1.4kg of sunflower hearts, and Supa make it from what they describe as premium quality materials.
