Fruit treats for small animals are popular with owners as much as the animals, because a resealable tub feels like a tidier thing to keep in the cupboard than a bag of loose hay-based snacks.

Supa's Papaya & Pineapple Melange is dried pineapple and papaya chunks, described as particularly popular with rabbits, though it's suitable for gerbils, hamsters and guinea pigs too. The analysis is protein 0.8%, fat 0.8%, fibre 0.9% — genuinely low across the board, as you'd expect from a dried fruit product.

• Dried pineapple and papaya chunks
• Protein 0.8%, fat 0.8%, fibre 0.9%
• Described as particularly popular with rabbits
• Suitable for rabbits, gerbils, hamsters and guinea pigs
• Resealable 225ml tub
• An occasional treat, not a dietary staple

What the analysis doesn't cover. Protein, fat and fibre are all low, which is expected of a dried fruit treat, but no sugar figure is given — dried fruit is naturally high in sugar, so this is worth treating as an occasional extra rather than a daily addition, even though the analysis panel alone doesn't spell that out.

Who it's for: owners of a rabbit, guinea pig, hamster or gerbil wanting an occasional fruit treat, kept to small amounts given its likely sugar content.
