Nobody plans to buy puppy milk. It gets bought at speed, usually because a litter has turned out larger than the bitch can feed, or because one puppy keeps getting shouldered off the milk bar by its siblings and is not gaining. The shop that happens to have it in stock is the shop that gets the order.

Skinner's make this as a complete milk replacer that can be used from birth, and describe it as suitable for all breeds and sizes of dog. The same tub does a second job: they list it for topping up the nutrition of young puppies, for pregnant and nursing bitches, for dogs recovering from illness or surgery, and for older dogs needing extra support. It is enriched with antioxidants, which Skinner's connect to immune and circulatory support, and it is rich in calcium for teeth and bone development. Some of the harder-to-digest fats have been taken out, which is the difference between this and reaching for the milk in the fridge.
