A guinea pig's digestive system runs on a constant supply of fibre in a way that makes the composition of a 'complete' feed matter more than it would for a lot of other small pets.

Selective build this from Timothy hay, soya bean hulls, flaked peas, ground soya bean meal, ground dried locust beans, pea flour and whole brown linseeds, with soya bean oil, calcium carbonate and yucca extract. It's grain-free, and the pack carries a warning that it may contain genetically modified soya and traces of nuts. Selective's own guidance is 40-50g a day for an average adult guinea pig, alongside fresh vegetables, good hay and water. It analyses at 16.0% protein, 20.0% crude fibre, 4.0% fat and 5.0% inorganic matter.
