A small pet that has stopped nosing around its hay rack by mid-afternoon is not being lazy, it is just working through the same smell it has had all day, and a stronger-smelling treat is the easiest way to get it moving again.

Selective's Garden Sticks lean into that with dried thyme at 4% and peppermint oil at 0.2%, on top of a Timothy hay (11%) and alfalfa hay base with wheat flour, ground dried locust beans, ground peas and linseeds. The fibre figure is notably higher than Selective's other loop treats at crude fibre (max) 25.5%, alongside crude protein (min) 7.0%, crude fat (min) 2.0% and moisture (max) 11.0%.

• Timothy hay (11%) and alfalfa hay base, with dried thyme (4%) and peppermint oil (0.2%)
• Crude fibre (max) 25.5% — higher than a typical hay-based loop treat
• Crude protein (min) 7.0%, crude fat (min) 2.0%
• Feed 2-4 a day, as a treat alongside a regular diet
• 60G bag

On the fat figure: at 25.5% crude fibre this sits well above the low-teens fibre figure of a fruit-flavoured loop treat, which makes it closer in role to a forage supplement than a sweet treat — worth knowing if you are choosing between Selective's range on fibre content rather than flavour.

Who it's for: owners of rabbits, guinea pigs, degus or chinchillas who want a herb-flavoured, higher-fibre treat rather than a fruit one, fed alongside regular hay and forage.
