Selective Naturals Berry Loops

A small animal that will not come to the front of the hutch for a plain nugget will often come for something with a smell of fruit on it, which is the whole job of a treat like this.

Selective's Berry Loops are built on wheat flour and ground dried locust beans, with ground Timothy hay (8.5%) and alfalfa hay for fibre, ground peas, soya oil and dried cranberries at 3% for the flavour, plus linseeds and concentrated radish and carrot. Nutritionally that comes out at protein 7.0%, fat 2.0%, fibre 12.0% and moisture 11.0%. Selective's own guidance is to feed 2-4 a day as a treat alongside a pet's regular diet, with fresh hay and water always available.

On the ingredients: cranberries are only 3% of the recipe — the bulk is wheat flour, locust beans and hay, so this reads closer to a hay-based loop with a berry note than a fruit treat in its own right.

Who it's for: owners of rabbits, guinea pigs, degus or chinchillas who want an occasional treat with some hay content in it, fed alongside — not instead of — their usual forage and fresh hay.
