The brown half of the Veggie Burst range. Where the leaves and pea pods are built on timothy hay and barley grass, the pinecones are made from wheat plant and oat bran, which gives a denser, drier piece with a different texture. The cone shape has ridges all the way round, so there is always an edge to get teeth behind.

The composition runs wheat plant at 27%, oat bran at 22%, pea fibre at 15%, corn starch, corn plant at 10%, dried pumpkin at 4%, vegetable glycerin, dried carrot at 2% and alfalfa at 1.5%. Rosewood describe the range as low in fat and high in fibre, and specially processed so it lasts under chewing rather than crumbling. The pack is 80g.

The published fibre and fat figures for the Veggie Burst range belong to the green shapes, not to these. The leaves and pea pods state 13.6% fibre and 0.7% fat; the pinecones are a different recipe and no analysis is published for them at all. We have left the panel blank here rather than borrow numbers from a recipe this one does not share, and if you are matching a treat to a restricted diet, that distinction is the whole point.

Who it's for: rabbits and rodents that have got bored of the hay-based shapes and need a different texture. Also the shape that survives a forage tray best, since the cone holds together when it is knocked about.
