The brown half of the Veggie Burst range. Where the leaves and pea pods are built on timothy hay and barley grass, the pinecones are made from wheat plant and oat bran, which gives a denser, drier piece with a different texture. The cone shape has ridges all the way round, so there is always an edge to get teeth behind.

The composition runs wheat plant at 27%, oat bran at 22%, pea fibre at 15%, corn starch, corn plant at 10%, dried pumpkin at 4%, vegetable glycerin, dried carrot at 2% and alfalfa at 1.5%. Rosewood describe the range as low in fat and high in fibre, and specially processed so it lasts under chewing rather than crumbling. The pack is 80g.

The published fibre and fat figures for the Veggie Burst range belong to the green shapes, not to these. The leaves and pea pods state 13.6% fibre and 0.7% fat; the pinecones are a different recipe and no analysis is published for them at all. We have left the panel blank here rather than borrow numbers from a recipe this one does not share, and if you are matching a treat to a restricted diet, that distinction is the whole point.

Who it's for: rabbits and rodents that have got bored of the hay-based shapes and need a different texture. Also the shape that survives a forage tray best, since the cone holds together when it is knocked about.

Not for the pinecones. The green shapes in the same range publish 13.6% fibre and 0.7% fat, but those belong to a different recipe and we will not apply them here. Nothing is published for this one.

What is the difference from the leaves and pea pods?

Recipe, not just shape. Those are led by timothy hay and barley grass; these are led by wheat plant and oat bran.

Is 'wheat plant' the same as wheat grain?

No. Wheat plant is the green stem and leaf, which is why it sits alongside pea fibre and corn plant rather than in a cereal list. Oat bran at 22% is the milled component.

How many can a rabbit have?

Rosewood print no quantity on this pack. The Pea Pods in the same range say up to one per week, and we would not be more generous than that with a piece this size.

Do they last?

That is what the processing is for. Rosewood specifically developed the range to hold together under chewing rather than crumble, and the cone shape is the most robust of the three.
